Who we are.

The South Philadelphia Prevention Coalition (SPPC), a community initiative of United Communities, was formed in 2011 as one of the five coalitions comprising the Philadelphia Coalition Academy. The overall goal of SPPC is to connect organizations that have a stake in collectively addressing the needs of young people, aged 13-18, in South Philadelphia by providing educational, advocacy and social programs to help reduce substance use.

SPPC is a group of stakeholders who are in invested in decreasing the access and usage of drugs and alcohol to youth who live and go to school in South Philadelphia. SPPC is intended to give youth healthy outlets and an opportunity to engage in project-based activities creating positive change, and developing skills around program planning and implementation as well as team building to cope with and combat the challenges of substance abuse in their community. This is done in partnership with the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services Office of Addiction, School District of Philadelphia, School Safety Task Force, Town Watch Integrated Services, Community Business Owners and the Philadelphia Police Department.
